Rose Hips 101

rose hipsRose hips are a pomaceous fruit of the rose plant, which is the same category that apples fall into.  The rose hip is known for its high concentration of vitamin C.  It is usually made into a tea, often blended with hibiscus and essential oils.  But it is also common to make jams, jelly, marmalade and wine.
 
The rose hip is also used as the base of a soup in some countries like Sweden.  Rose hips contain a high level of various vitamins including C, D, E and A.  It also contains essential fatty acids and antioxidant flavonoids, which are necessary for good body performance. This is why rose hips have been utilized in many herbal tonics.
